That's a Wrap!

Went by today and our house is wrapped! The last few days have been really busy around the house:

Tuesday: Finished Framing, Finished Roof
Wednesday: Low-Voltage Wiring Meeting, Started and Finished HVAC, Started Plumbing, Poured Garage Concrete
Thursday: Finished Plumbing, Low-Voltage Wiring Installed, Extra Window #3 Added, House Wrapped, Shingles Started

Coming Soon:
Friday: Finish Wiring, Maybe Finish Shingles, Cleanup Inside
Monday: Pre-Drywall Meeting

Thursday came with the surprise not only of the amount of work done, but also with the fact that we have a good shot at being a one-of-a-kind Palermo from the outside. In one of the pics, you can see a single window in the home office. In my last post I mentioned in an comment that we have what our ARB calls a "high profile lot". As such, we are required to have at least 2 windows on each side of the house. Since we didn't add any windows with our options list, our PM had to have them added. The first two were leftovers from the front of the garage (our PM also had to special order windows for the garage to match the length of the windows on the front of the main house to meet ARB standards) that were the same size as the windows in the morning room, so we received the extra side windows in the morning room. My PM gave me the lowdown on this yesterday. When he brought up the reasoning, I asked about the other side. He had thought that we had two windows on that side but I assured him we hadn't added any. He was going to check with the developer, but was pretty certain the developer would make them add one so he said that he would just add it now. He asked whether I preferred the window to be in the Master Bedroom or the Home Office. Given our layout in the master, and our desire for privacy in that room, we opted for the Home Office. I showed up today and there was a nice pretty window there for more light! The Palermo plan adds two windows to the Home Office if you get the upgrade, but seeing as though these are bonus windows, I'm perfectly happy with just one, plus it saves me having to buy blinds for one more window.

Here's some pics of the progress. Amazing what one day can bring!

Another Day of Photos

Stopped by the house today and snapped some more photos. Today was the first day I was able to go upstairs so I was pumped! Hopefully we will be getting plumbing soon since our pre-drywall meeting is scheduled for Friday...

This is the view from a master bedroom window. Will look much better without the orange fence..

Roof is Almost Done

The crew was hard at work Saturday putting our roof up.  Should finish up today while our plumbing is getting installed.  And hopefully we will get stairs today!

A Happy Note About Bathrooms

This past weekend we had a chance to stop by the Palermo model we first visited. Over the past few months, the only model I have seen is the Rome in our neighborhood. Going back to the Palermo model I was pleasantly surprised to see that the master bathroom is significantly wider than the Rome. I felt like I had a dance floor in there. That will definitely be an upgrade for me and the DF when we're getting ready for work in the morning.

And that concludes today's thought!

Starting to Look Like a Home!

They put our roof trusses on today! They are really moving now. PM says they will be finishing up framing over the next few days. Plumbing could start as early as Saturday! And our pre-drywall should be coming next week.

I have my meeting with Structured Cable (our version of Guardian, the company most RH bloggers seem to use) on Friday to select our locations for low-voltage wiring. I hope they are ready for how an engineer picks the placement of his home theater system.

And what you have really wanted to see, the pictures:

Second Floor Started

They started on our second floor today. Going to fix our foundation later this week. I will definitely be by to see how that pans out. We also have all of our roof trusses on side, and it looked like they were preparing the end gables.  Another exciting week ahead!

I'm also excited to let you all know that some friends of ours have purchased the lot right next to ours! You can follow their build at http://ehravenna.blogspot.com! We we already really happy about moving into this neighborhood, and now even more so that we will already be acquainted with our neighbors!

Not Good News

I'm not sure I want to know what has to happen to fix this,  let alone how this is going to impact our schedule. PM is coming to look at it tomorrow.

Framing day 4

Day for framing and they have the first floor interior walls complete. They finished the second floor joists and have put plywood on almost all of the second floor.

Framing: Day 3

More framing. First floor mostly complete (minus a closet or two), and part of the 2nd floor joists. Word from the PM is that a roof should be up sometime next week and pre-drywall a week after that! It is really hitting that exciting time!

Floor Joists Installed

Framing started today and by the time I showed up this afternoon they had finished the floor joists and headed out for the day! Hoping the make some more progress as the week goes on. Am I too hopeful to wish for roof by the weekend?

I See Floors in My Future

Went by today and they had finished grading the land and finished up the crawl space. Another bonus, the wood for the floor joists and subfloor is on site! PM says that if the weather cooperates, they will start on the joists Friday!
